Green Spaces, Strong Communities.

My Mission

I’m passionate about making our parks inclusive, accessible, and most importantly, people-focused. With a deep appreciation for the transformative power of green spaces, I am committed to ensuring that our parks become vibrant hubs that prioritize the various needs of our community. By putting the community at the center of park and green space development, we can create spaces that reflect the richness of our diversity and enhance the quality of life for everyone.

1. Inclusive Green Spaces

Creating a sense of belonging is essential in fostering inclusive community well-being. It goes beyond just physical accessibility; it involves creating spaces where everyone feels welcome, valued, and able to participate fully. Green spaces play a crucial role in this endeavor. By designing and maintaining these spaces to cater to diverse abilities and activities, we ensure that everyone has the opportunity to connect with nature and each other.

2. Recreation Activities for All Ages and Abilities

We live in a community with many individuals with various needs and wants. From children to seniors, we need to commit to ensuring everyone can enjoy and engage in activities tailored to their preferences, fostering a sense of belonging and well-being for all. This includes intentional programming for seniors and specific programming that families would like to see such as youth soccer leagues.

3. Strengthen Collaboration and Community Partnerships

I plan to continue the conversations around growing collaboration and partnerships in the Park District with other community groups. The only way to truly make an impact and innovate is through collaboration. One organization cannot do it all, so working in partnership not only supports our work but it provides increased opportunities to ensure everyone has what they need.

4. Increase Community Engagement

Community engagement is key to ensuring our parks reflect the needs and desires of all residents. By involving community members in decision-making, we create ownership and connection to these spaces. Listening to diverse voices helps guide programming and events, ensuring inclusivity and relevance. As our community evolves, so should our parks, offering new opportunities for recreation and gathering. Together, we can shape vibrant, inclusive spaces where everyone can enjoy and thrive.
